Every single Monday from April through to October, a themed food event will take place in locations around the Burren.

The Burren Food Trail Mondays focuses not only on food, but also on the landscape that surrounds it. Each individual event represents a unique opportunity to combine good food with real, authentic interaction with the people who produced or prepared it, or indeed with the surrounding landscape and heritage.

Slow Food Festival in Lisdoonvarna

Slow Food Festival in Lisdoonvarna

Held in May the Burren Slow Food Festival will take place in the Pavilion in Lisdoonvarna, Co. Clare.

This festival offers the opportunity to meet local producers and growers and sample their foods, engage with fellow foodies and enjoy cookery demonstrations from well-known chefs. Doolin Craft Beer Festival

The Doolin Craft Beer Festival features great beers from craft brewers all around Ireland, some of Clare’s best musicians along with food from local artisan producers. The event runs from a marquee in the Gardens at the back of Hotel Doolin. It features live Irish music throughout the three days.

The Burren Food Fayre is held on October bank holiday weekend and has a range of local Artisan Food Producers, cookery demonstrations, talks and tastings.

The Burren MASTERCHEF competition is one highlight with categories for Secondary Schools and Adults, all are invited to participate – fabulous prizes to be won!

In the morning you can take part in Cattle Droving from Fanore to the Winterage above on the Burren and then head for Lisdoonvarna for your lunch and some fun at the Burren Food Fayre starting at 12.30. view full event

Russell Memorial Weekend

The annual traditional festival held in Doolin falling on the weekend of the last Friday in February is a remembrance ceremony to Micho Russell, the world-famous traditional musician. Organised by the Doolin community since 1995, it is a landmark on the traditional festival calendar as one of the earliest festivals of the year. It also hosts some of the best of traditional entertainment and attracts musicians from around the country.

The headline act this year features Dessie O'Halloran on fiddle and vocals, Kieran Hanrahan on banjo and mandolin, Johnnie O'Halloran on accordion and melodion, Caitlin Ni Gabhann on concertina and dance, Damien O'Reilly on accordion and guitar, Padraic O'Reilly on piano, Seamus O'Connell on concert flute and vocals, and Ronan Flaherty on fiddle. They will be performing at the Russell concert on Saturday 28th Feb 2015.

The parade normally starts at 2pm at Doolin Harbour and makes its way through te village finishing up at the Russell Cultural Centre around 3pm. Jpin te locals in the lively the pubs of Doolin for great traditional music afterwards.

An invitation to writers, aspiring writers and lovers of literature across the world to the thrid Doolin Writers Weekend!

The Weekend once again features workshops and readings by some of Ireland’s leading writers, including Booker Prize nominee Donal Ryan, Irish award-winning novelist and short-story writer Christine Dwyer Hickey, Dave Lordan, Anthony Glavin and Madeleine Darcy.

Event organiser, Doolin Hotel General Manager, accomplished writer and author of "Dead Priest's House" Donal Minihane described the Doolin Poetry & Short Story Competition and Doolin Writer’s Weekend as “a great opportunity for aspiring writers as well as literary fans and published authors to get together and celebrate everything that is good about Irish Literature.”

He continued: “Many artists and writers spent time in Doolin, including J.M. Synge, George Bernard Shaw, Dylan Thomas, Augustus John and Oliver St. John Gogarty. This spring we look forward to welcoming back some of Ireland’s best writers to North Clare.”
