Walking and Hiking around Doolin and the Burren

Sea View House is an ideal location for exploring this spectacular part of the Clare coastline. Take any of the local trails and experience small abandoned village's, stone walls, lots of cows and horses, small waterfalls, and of course the spectacular scenery. We can help you plan your walks and trips by providing you with local knowledge and tips along with maps and brochures.

Doolin is dotted with the remains of historical churches and castles including the ruined Doonmacfelim Castle. Although reduced to one story it still remains prominent landmark today.

The Burren starts down the road at Doolin Harbour. Locally there are a number or trails and cross country routes that can take you along the rugged Burren coastline or up to the mighty Cliffs of Moher.

Doolin to the Cliffs Of Moher Coastal Walk

The new Clare Coastal Walk Project which starts just up the road from Sea View House Bed and Breakfast links Doolin to Liscannor via the Cliffs Of Moher.

The upgraded walk takes approximately 12.7 kilometres of the existing "Burren Way" off tarred road and onto the scenic coastal path along by the iconic Cliffs Of Moher from Doolin to Hags head, and then on minor roads into the village of Liscannor.

Eagles Rock

Slieve Carron Nature Reserve (or Eagle’s Rock as it is known to locals) is state-managed land located in the heart of the north Burren. It has a diversity of habitats including species-rich grassland, limestone pavements, heathland, mature hazel woodland and grazing pastures. This makes it an ideal spot to reflect on the diversity and abundancy of flora and fauna, and well as a great landscape to help us understand why the landscape management is necessary Aside from its ecological learning value, Slieve Carron NR is also the host to a fulacht fiadh, a holy well, the site of a hermitage cave and oratory.
